Nail polish has evolved from being just an aesthetic embellishment into the sphere of creative art with a multitude of new and more advanced developments. Nail polish now comes in different finishes and textures delivering nail art from a bottle, making it cheaper and more expedient than most nail art techniques. Here are examples of these textured nail polishes:
Shatter Texture
Shatter topcoat is applied like a standard topcoat but as it dries it breaks up on the nail generating crackles and creating a shattered look over the nails. What you will have is a custom-made look without going to a nail salon for an expensive manicure or nail art. The beauty of a shattered topcoat is that you don’t need to be excessively neat or precise when applying the product.

Tweed Texture
Taiwanese – American Fashion designer Jason Wu and CND launched a limited edition Jason Wu Polish collection that includes a textured topcoat that contains fragment of fabrics such as silk creating a fabric-like texture on the nail bearing a close resemblance to suede or tweed wool. The effect is as delicately textured finish that comes from the fiber in the polish.
Rubber Texture
Orly came out with its Plastix collection which appears like rubber in texture. The polish dries to a leather-like textured finish making the nails appear like they are coated in rubber. Color selection includes Viridian Vinyl, Retro Red, Purple Pleather, and Old School Orange.

Matte Texture
Matte nail polish started it all. The chalkboard flat is the exact opposite of the traditional glossy nail polish. Alternatives include Mitzi, Phoebe and Lolly from Zoya and Matte Smoke from Diamond cosmetic. Matte grey or matte black are both available from ManGlaze. These products were designed to attract both female and male who are looking for a less lustrous nail art option that is meant to stay longer and achieve a genuine “punk-rotten” style.
